Community open day at Sirhowy Valley Crematorium
Sirhowy Valley Crematorium is looking forward to welcoming visitors to a community open day on Sunday 3 August.
An invitation is open to anyone to visit between 9am and 1pm, when they will be able to tour the beautiful memorial gardens and the crematorium’s comfortable chapel.
Those who arrive early can enjoy a breakfast roll while watching the 10am start of a fund-raising tractor run, with around 40 vehicles gathering at the crematorium before touring local villages and ending up at a nearby equestrian centre.
It’s the fourth time this run has taken place – there is one in the summer and one around Christmas - and so far, nearly £10,000 has been raised for local charities.
Visitors to the open day will also have an opportunity to take a tour of the crematory, if they wish, and have the chance to meet the crematorium’s friendly and supportive team as well as other industry professionals who help to bring funeral services together.
Sirhowy Valley Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of crematoria and cemeteries, with 41 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.
Manager Jon Deacon said: “Those who attend our community open day will be able to find out first-hand about the exceptional care with which we serve the community and their loved ones.
“Visitors will be able to learn about the range of farewell services we offer, the technology we use and how we can make every funeral uniquely personal.
“They will also be able to discover how we can support the bereaved in helping them to remember their loved ones, through a wide range of memorialisation options.”
Those who attend the open day can also place a card or message to loved ones in the crematorium’s memorial post box, as well as spend some quiet time in the landscaped grounds for reflection and remembrance.
Jon added: “We will also be able to tell visitors about the work we do in the local community and the many local charities and organisations we support.
“Everyone is welcome to drop in and we look forward to meeting local families on 3 August.”
