Crematorium invites visitors to ‘Wear it pink’ for breast cancer
Sirhowy Valley Crematorium is inviting local people to visit and ‘Wear it pink’ to help raise money for Breast Cancer Now, the research and support charity.
The crematorium is opening its doors on Friday 18 October – Breast Cancer Awareness Day – between 10am and 4pm.
Wear it Pink day is regarded as one of the biggest fund-raising events in the UK and has been taking place for more than 20 years, generating more than £41 million in the process towards the charity’s mission of making sure that, by 2050, everyone diagnosed with breast cancer lives, and is supported to live well.
The crematorium is offering a day of refreshments, games and prizes, and is inviting anyone who attends to wear pink.
Sirhowy Valley Crematorium is part of Westerleigh Group, one of the UK’s largest independent owners and operators of cemeteries and crematoria, with 40 sites in England, Scotland, and Wales, all set within beautifully landscaped gardens of remembrance which provide peaceful places for people to visit and reflect.
Manager Jon Deacon added: “We’re inviting people from our local community to join us on 18 October for a cuppa, cake and chat, to help increase awareness of breast cancer and raise vital funds at the same time.
“Thousands of amazing people will wear it pink in their communities, schools and workplaces to help make life-changing breast cancer research and support a reality.
“And we hope plenty of local people will wear it pink and join us, too, for a fun day in aid of a very worthy cause.”
